Open Side Containers
Open side containers have a full-length set of folding doors along one long side, plus the usual cargo doors at the end. Swing the side doors open and the entire interior is exposed, so you can load wide items with a forklift, set up a pop-up shop, or turn the box into a covered workspace.

- 20 foot: new 20ft open side container, one trip 20ft open side container and used 20ft open side container.

Benefits of open side containers
- Full-length access: no need to dig through to the back of the box.
- Wide loads: forklifts can place pallets, machinery or long materials straight in from the side.
- Instant storefront: open the side for markets, bars, ticket booths and showrooms.
- Light and air: working inside feels like a covered shed rather than a tunnel.
Size and build
Outside dimensions follow the intermodal container standards for 20 and 40 foot boxes. Because the side wall is replaced with doors, the frame carries extra steel posts and locking bars. Inside width can be a little less near the door posts, so check the product page if you plan a tight fit.
Where they work best
Open side containers suit farms storing equipment, contractors handling long materials, and retailers building pop-up shops. Hospitality and event businesses use them as bars and stages. If you prefer to load from above with a crane, see our open top containers, or for doors at both ends try our double door containers.
Choosing condition and size
For customer-facing uses, a one trip unit keeps paint and doors in top shape. For storage, a used box saves money. Our one trip vs used guide explains the grades, and types of shipping containers shows how the open side fits among the other designs. The 40 foot versions are also high cubes, so compare with our 40ft high cube containers. Need a quote on open side containers? Contact us.
