Double Door Containers

Double door containers, also called tunnel containers, have full cargo doors at both ends. You can load from one end and unload from the other, walk straight through, or park the box so either end faces the action. That simple change makes them far easier to organise than a standard box with doors at one end only.

Why buy double door containers?

  • No dead space at the back: items stored deep inside are just as easy to reach as those at the front.
  • Faster loading: forklifts or pallet jacks can drive in at one end and out at the other.
  • Two zones in one box: add a partition and use each end for different stock or teams.
  • Better ventilation: open both ends on a hot day to move air through.

Sizes

Outside dimensions match a standard box of the same length, as set out in the intermodal container standards: 20 or 40 feet long, 8 feet wide and 8 ft 6 in tall. The extra doors add a little weight but do not reduce the floor area. Compare sizes in our 20ft vs 40ft guide.

Popular uses

Builders keep materials at one end and tools at the other. Farms use double door containers as drive-through stores for equipment. Event and sports clubs split gear by team. They also make good starting points for workshops and site offices; see our modified shipping containers.

Other access options

If you need to reach the full length at once, look at our open side containers. For loading by crane from above, see open top containers. Our types of shipping containers guide compares every layout. When you are ready to order double door containers, contact our team for delivery pricing.
